It has been 4 weeks since the first surgery, almost 2 since the second one. But, he has fought off the infections and now is eligible for rehab.
He is spending Christmas at the rehab and hopefully will eventually be able to return home. I expect he is going to need lots of hands on help moving forward.
It has been a roller coaster month, well actually year. My brother deserves an award for the care and attention he is giving dad. My sister-in-law is a saint, their family life has been disrupted all year.
Happy Holidays to all who celebrate at this time of year. I keep my driftwood tree lit up day and night, it really brightens my spirits.

What rung out for me in your post is you have the kind of support from your family members, that I've longed for from my family members and I come from a large family, it's make all the difference in the world when looking after loved ones.
