Sometimes God uses events to shape and change us. I won't blame God for this, but I am profoundly changed by what occurred this morning. Our next door neighbor's Adult Foster Care Facility was completely devastated by fire this morning. Thank God all 8 people + 2 dogs got out alive. Thank God no one was seriously hurt. A firefighter's shoulder was hurt when a ceiling collapsed on him. The challenged elderly residents had been practicing fire drills recently, and each were brought out safely. Thank God.
I complain about my circumstances, at times, as you all know. But today, I think I will not complain at all. I thank God no one was hurt and lives were spared. I thank God my home and husband and son did not perish. I thank God I did not move my Mom into that situation. I think I'll think about this every time I look out my windows, walk or drive by. And when I want to complain about something, I think I'll just count my blessings, instead. I pray you'll count your blessings, today, as well. And while you're at it, please pray for those in need, including your own, thanking God for all the good he gives you each day.
NEON, for the 22nd time I quit smokeing 3 years ago. Just stopped and did not buy or bum another one. 4 months later i had a bad asthma attack and had to put myself in the hospital. (Thank GOD mom was still recuperating in the hospital) I sure would like to get rid of this s---t.
Naus, Try to chase a 84 yr old lady running away from you (my mom escaping) and the Oxygen cant get into your system to sustain the run. I finally caught her and sat on her until I could see clearly and breathe. May GOD bless your efforts with your dad.
Thanks for sharing! Bless your heart for helping a neighbor!!
Another bright spot: I have two working vehicles, each one backs up the other in case they break down. Well, the car's alternator stopped working, and the truck's starter stopped working all this week. So, I took both to an electrical automotive shop I have frequented for many years. The alternator brushes had carbon build-up so they were cleaned and unit is fine --- No charge ---! The starter has 4 brushes on the armature, 3 were completely gone and the forth was melted. Well they replaced that equipment and the starter is fine, --- $25 ---! So instead of buying $300 for new parts, I had both rebuilt to reuse because the men who work there know I care for my mom, with no job, and they are GODLY men.
One can say the world is awful, or One can say miracles happen here and they are both right! We choose what to believe! Jerome.
Great news on the vehicles. God does provide for His people doesn't He? Sometimes in the obscure ways! Thanks for sharing about God's goodness!
Being raised by that type of mother and having Godly covering every step of my life has taught me some great lessons and I hope I learn from them, not go back to repeating them. So I write to share them. I hope that others will get a glimpse that there is hope, there is a possibility for change, and that setting boundaries can be healthy when done properly.
I'll take those blessings and pass them on! Thanks Naus!!
Also, a blessing is this site and all of you!
Linda
The move yesterday with dad went so well I couldn't believe it. I think dad was apprehensive at first, until we got his apartment all set up. It looks really nice, and we made it homey for him, will do much better even, when we get back from the long trip. I cried when I waved goodbye up at his 2nd story window, while he was waving at goodbye at us. I felt as though I was leaving my child behind. And then when I got home and walked into his empty room. I don't understand it either. I couldn't wait to get him out, and he couldn't wait to get out, and there we were giving each other a hug goodbye. Maybe I can go back to being the good daughter again, instead of the enemy. I have to go back today, to take him his extra linens and clothes that I washed for him, so I will see. Also, yesterday, there were a lot of older ladies inquiring about him, and if there was anything they could do to help. I noticed when I checked on him at lunch in the dining room, one of the ones who inquired about him was sitting next to him smiling the whole time. She was so cute. They are way more women there than men. My dad has been a hermit for years, so I don't know about the socializing part. My 20yr old daughter will visit him, while we are gone on our trip, and try to do activities with him. I have way too much to do today, and not enough time, and we leave at 3:00am in the morning. So, I will check back with you friends when I come back from my trip. Oh, yes, a blessing again, last night my friend from out of state called me and said that her fiance's brother wanted to buy my dad's truck. Thank God for miracles and blessings. WHOOP! WHOOP! God Bless you all, and take care of yourselves. BIG HUGS to you!
Awesome blessing! Have a great day!
Our prayers are with your family. It just reminds me that we have to look for the blessings in life no matter how small. Mine is it has not rained today. We on the East Coast, have too much rain, so it is a blessing.
