Emeritus at Alpine Campus is conveniently located in west Eugene, on the corner of N. Clarey and Barger Drive, just four miles from downtown. Just next door is the PeaceHealth Medical Group, where many of our residents have their doctors. While we are located in a residential area, our community offers quick access to Route 569 (the “Beltline”), as well as to many stores, pharmacies and banks. Several parks, including Alton Baker Park, Mangan City Park, Golden Gardens City Park and Echo Hollow City Park, are also nearby.
Conveniently Located
In the immediate area and beyond, there is so much for our independent residents to enjoy. Eugene, a city located at the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers, is passionate about outdoor living, offering miles and miles of biking, walking and jogging paths. Many of the paths are built along the Willamette River, through the city’s numerous parks and gardens, and even next to shopping centers. The University of Oregon, home of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts and the Oregon Ducks, gives residents the chance to see outstanding theater and musical performances and to attend college games. For picnicking, camping, swimming, water skiing or sailing, Fern Ridge Lake is just outside of town. Our community is also just about an hour from Florence on the spectacular Oregon Coast, where residents love to stroll along the beach, explore the Sea Lion Caves, visit Devil’s Elbow State Park, or play the slots at Three Rivers Casino. Alpine Court and Cottages also offers easy access to many of Oregon’s outstanding wineries.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
We nurture strong relationships with area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers, including Avamere Rehab of Eugene, Avamere Riverpark of Eugene, Eugene Good Samaritan, Sacred Heart Hospital and Riverbend Medical Campus, to name a few. Through the communications and relationships that we share with key staff at these organizations, we can provide a seamless continuum of care for our residents. In addition, on doctor’s orders, we will bring in outside physical, occupational and speech therapists, and hospice services. Therapy is provided in the privacy of the resident’s apartment, or in a common space, depending upon the specific therapy required.
Our Staff
We have about 55 staff members, including our memory care staff, which provides around-the-clock care. Our team members include resident assistants, medication aids, a residential care coordinator, a full-time registered nurse, front desk administrative staff, life enrichment director; dining services director; executive director, community relations director, business office director and maintenance director. Several of our employees have spent many years working at our community. We also are blessed to have staff members who have devoted their lives to working with seniors with memory impairments. For example, our memory care director has 22-plus years of experience working with people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, while our memory care life engagement director has an 18-year career working with this special group of people.
A Wonderful Selection
Emeritus at Alpine Campus is one big home to two different communities. Our small, homey memory care community has 56, single-occupied studio senior apartments, all on one level. So there’s no worrying that residents might fall down a staircase or have difficulty navigating a confusing floor plan. We offer two types of studios: a semi-private style in which two single-occupied studios share one bathroom, or a private room with its own bathroom. The retirement cottages for our independent residents are spacious and light, with huge windows. Each offers two bedrooms, including a master bedroom suite with its own bathroom and sliding doors to a back patio; another full bath; full kitchen; and single-car garage with automatic garage door opener. Built in 2001, the cottages also feature high ceilings, granite countertops and extra wide doors and hallways to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. Residents rent month to month; there are no buy-in fees or leases. Rent includes a 24-hour emergency response system, weekly housekeeping service, landscape services and all paid utilities, except telephone and cable services. In addition, it includes three meals a day, served restaurant-style in the Alpine Springs dining room, as well as Alpine Springs’ exciting activities program. If desired, transportation for shopping is also available.
Our cottage neighborhood is situated on a beautiful park-like setting, perfect for summertime block parties and barbeques! Each Friday in our model cottage, our independent residents join the coffee club for fellowship and fun. Coffee and cinnamon rolls are served. Residents also get together with each other frequently to play dominos, pinochle, cards and other games. They are also invited to dine with us in the main dining room at Alpine Springs, and all meals are included with their rent. A beauty salon/barber shop is also located right next door at Alpine Springs. Our memory care community is set up differently. We have four distinct “neighborhoods,” each with its own intimate dining space. All four neighborhoods connect onto a huge atrium that creates the feeling of being outdoors. With its trees, plants and gazebo, it is a favorite place for residents to stroll about. All of the neighborhoods are open, so residents can visit one another, and even visit staff in our offices, which they do quite often! In addition, the community provides two interior courtyards and two outer courtyards, all four of which are secured for the safety of our residents.
Accomplishments
Alpine Court Memory Care has completed and successfully passed the Oregon State Board Survey, which is conducted every other year. But more important than passing the inspection of state regulators are the many wonderful thank you notes and comments we receive from our residents and their families, like these: “Thank you for your love and dedication in taking care our beloved mother.” Or from one of our cottage residents: “I’ve wanted for some time to say thank you for all the very good cookies you have made for us. We all enjoy them and a special thanks to you.”
