Serving Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington and surrounding areas, Griswold Home Care of Northern Virgina can help you remain independent, active, and safe in your own home. Our goal is to provide you with assistance as you age gracefully by partnering you with a professional caregiver who can better enable you to continue living your life the way you want. Whether you live across the country or across the street from your aging family members, it helps to know they have someone nearby if they need support. A caregiver can come into your home or facility for as little as four hours a week or up to 24 hours, 7 days a week as a live-in caregiver.
Griswold Home Care of Northern Virginia East, led by Christina Friedberg, Director, is honored to offer home care to seniors, disabled adults, and others who need a little extra help to maintain their independence. Our caregivers come from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, including caring for clients with Alzheimer’s and dementia, neuromuscular conditions, and post-surgery and rehab needs. They can help mitigate fall risks, which greatly reduces the risk of injury.
A Home Care Team Member will work with you to understand your needs, so we can recommend the type of home care that’s best for you and your loved one. Before you’re matched with a caregiver, a coordinator will speak with you personally and meet with you in person for an in-home discussion.

Our Griswoldness
There are many companies operating today in the senior home care industry. Given the demographics of an aging population, there are more entrants every day. Many of them are fine companies who provide excellent and compassionate care as we do. But we’re a little different, and it’s worthwhile to understand the differences that make up our Griswoldness and make us unique in the marketplace:
Compassion, More than Commerce
Griswold was established in 1982 based on a model of compassionate care originally in the Philadelphia area based on the values of Jean Griswold our founder. Back in the early 1980s there were far less demographic underpinnings to the senior care industry. Jean saw the need in her community and acted. Boomers were then people in their 30s and 40s when she established the company. She merely saw a need in her community and reacted with no business ambitions. The delivery of compassionate care was her primary objective then as it is at Griswold Home Care today.
Compassion is Timeless because Dignity is Timeless
We live in a world where new technology can change industries rapidly. While that's true in most industries, the delivery of compassionate care is "old fashioned". It’s a business where old-time values of respect for the individual and compassion to those who have need are the bedrocks of our reason for being. We help our clients retain the dignity they seek in living in the place they love. The longevity of our business and the long-term relationship with caregivers makes Griswold special, and caregivers working with Griswold are second to none in the industry, provide unparalleled compassionate care. They truly have a “Heart of Gold”. That’s the Griswold way.
Our name was not created by marketing people
Our name is Griswold, not a snappy name that marketing folk would have thought of. It’s another reason why we'll always be a little different. We were founded and named by a person, Jean Griswold, and Jean’s values permeate through how we operate, who we are, and how we will exist in the future. We have the obligation of living up to our founder’s name. We take that responsibility seriously and seek to do so every day.
We are proud of our “Griswoldness” and proud to have a long history of compassionate care for seniors. We ask for the opportunity of caring for you or a loved one. You can depend on us for the highest level of compassionate care, helping people live in the place they love.
