Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead, Inc. in 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska. Paul's own family experience caring for his grandmother led him to realize many families could use the help of an in-home caregiver. He and Lori set about creating a company to help seniors to live independently at home. That mission still drives the company and its franchise network today.

Home Instead, Inc. began franchising in 1995. Today, the Home Instead® network has grown to include more than 1,200 franchises around the world. While our franchise network is international, our office is local. And to us, home care is personal.

The Durham Home Instead team worked to help me provide the best care possible for my dad. New caregivers were personally introduced and matched. If any caregiver had to be out for any reason, I received advance notice and was informed on who would be taking their place. Each of the caregivers that were in my home over the past 2 years has been compassionate and skilled in helping both my dad and the rest of our family. I especially like that they regularly have training sessions for their folks - around dementia care, fall prevention, etc. My experience has been great -- however franchises may be slightly different. Talk with the owners and others in your area who have used them. Even with a great service and people, not everyone will be a good fit for your needs. Don't hesitate to ask for someone different if that is the case.
