IKOR of Western Pennsylvania

I live in New York and my parents live in Greensburg, PA. Mom was hospitalized and she was the one holding it together for dad. I rented a car and drove to Pittsburgh and found the house in a significant decline. Mom was not holding it together as well as it seemed on the phone. A high school friend told me about Patty at IKOR. I was terribly overwhelmed. Patty came to see me the same day. I joined their Safety Net program. She got me in touch with a home care provider, an attorney, someone to cut the grass at the same meeting. The next day she had a Registered Nurse meet me at the hospital to check on Mom's status and to come up with a plan. She had their Financial Advocate come out and go through her bills with me and guided me on how to quickly get their finances under control as I worked through getting a Power of Attorney through her contacts. Within 4 days I had the situation in a manageable place. I would have never been able to do that on my own in that amount of time it would have taken me months. IKOR team members are visiting my parents twice a month and overseeing home care. They had a handyman make some home repairs. They are helping mom pay her bills and talking to my mom about assisted living facilities on every visit to help her transition. IKOR has been a God Send to me.

When my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I wanted to understand what he needed and what I could do. Through IKOR of Western Pennsylvania's assessment, they found the place that could meet all of my dad’s physical and psychological needs. And you helped me as well. They educated me in the disease process, and gave me some instruction on how to communicate with him to make the time we had left have greater meaning. We could communicate again on his level, and I understood how and why. My last months with him were some of our best. I’ll never forget what IKOR did for us.

I hired IKOR of Western Pennsylvania back in 2010 and have not had one moment of regret. They have been phenomenal in terms of insight, care and assistance for my highly autistic brother and his special needs wife. This year has been an exceptional challenge as they have both had significant health and cognitive declines. I live in Georgia and they live in the Pittsburgh area. Taking care of them long distance has been a real challenge and IKOR have been my boots on the ground. I don't know what I would have done without their services. We tried to give them every opportunity to remain independent with appropriate in home care. Sadly that did not work out and they are now in separate facilities that best suit their needs. All of this would not have been possible without the exceptional work and support by IKOR. I would highly recommend IKOR to anyone in need of their services. They will not be disappointed!
