My Aunt with dementia couldn't watch anything scary or negative or dark or hectic/frantic. I bought her tons of movies and here's what she watched over and over for several years (all on DVD but you can probably stream them if you are set up for that, or ask for them on Nextdoor.com)

Netflix.com has good Movies and Amazon. prime Videos . You Can get Amazon Prime for a discounted rate if you are On medicaid and I think medicare and they give you a Free 30 day trial with Amazon Prime membership at $6.99 . I really Like Netflix .
We watch Netflix and I am not sorry to say lots of trivial shows. We love binging and all international series, British, Spanish, Australian are the best IMO. I love those long series especially with several families involved. Yesterday we watched Spanish show called Between Lands, set in 1970, interesting how women were treated not that long ago.
We are a one-TV house and don't care to sit in separate rooms. Dh watches TV and I look at my chromebook. Together, but doing our own thing. A lot of homes only want to have one TV.

If you get him a Roku or Firestick and you have internet, you/he can set up channels like Get, Bounce, Decades, Cozi, Movies, Antenna, Heroes & Icons, Me and Me+ and others are geared towards seniors. GetTV has detective shows. MeTV has sitcoms. MeTV shows Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Rifleman, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Have Gun -- Will Travel, Wanted: Dead or Alive, all western shows, every day. MeTV also shows M*A*S*H and Hogan's Heroes. H&I and GetTV show Walker Texas Ranger a lot, like 7 times a day. Here in the home the "Game Show Channel" is incredibly popular for some reason.
Many channels are available individually as add-ons to these devices, some are parts of other channels like Pluto. Roku channel has on demand and lots of linear channels, with all sorts of TV shows from the 1950s to almost now, and movies from black and white to almost now. All sorts of genres. Tubi, Pluto, and Freevee are similar. Several things will be on more than one, but others are exclusive.
If he has enough mental clarity to handle a Roku he can find tons of free channels and some paid one to keep him busy.
I wish there was a bit of info about in your profile. Does you husband have dementia? How old is he? If so, then yes, tone down on that kind of TV and movies. I don't even have news on TV now days. Just a bit of news about Israel being under attack was enough to set my husband off last night.
While I can't give you a list of movies, I can give you a genre -- Classics! My dad loved all the old movies from the 40s and 50s, especially the musicals. Or try to stay lighthearted -- Disney family movies from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
