My 95-year-old LO with dementia lives alone and I am her caregiver. It has been suggested that I look at remote monitoring/communication systems as a way to help her stay at home safely. GrandCare Systems is one that I am researching and looks fairly impressive. I'd like to hear from anyone who has direct experience using the system in a home setting. Thank you!!
I would not leave a person with dementia alone.
There are so many things that can happen so quickly.
A person with dementia at some point may not know to push a button for help, they may not pick up a phone, they may not respond to a voice out of a speaker. A fall might happen in an unmonitored part of the house. Getting out of the house is a possibility as well.
A live in caregiver or several caregivers taking shifts would be the way to go if you want to keep her in her home.
But is the home going to remain a safe place for her as she declines?
