I’ve been using Bergamot or Peppermint oils and the meditation channel (leave on low all night) for my Mom when she goes to bed. It seems to help keep her calm. Does anyone else find this helpful?

Before everyone comes for me, I know things change as the disease progresses. She sees her doctors on the regular and is medicated properly. I have help taking care of my mom. With that said, can you just answer the question without telling me what I need to do or who she needs to see?

Yes I have seen patients of various levels of consciousness/awareness relax with the use of music. If you ever want to change up the music you are using try googling "playlist for anxiety reducing music" as well as "world's most relaxing song." The latter was intentionally created for maximal relaxation and it works for me. There is also a musical group called Marconi Union or something close to that ( I know the Marconi part is correct) and their music has a deliberately relaxing intent as well.

If it works GREAT.
If it works next week GREAT.
Things change. And you never know when, how or why.
Take this as a "Win" for now.
You might try other scents that are known to be calming just in case the one you are using stops calming her.

From your profile it sounds like you are doing a great job. Congrats!
You are setting aside time for you and that is important.

As for decisions that you make...
If you are making them with your moms' best interest at heart, if you are making the best decisions you can based on the information you have no one can ask more of you than that.

Sounds nice! I am glad it is working to help your mom sleep.

My dad doesn’t have dementia, but I l love to spritz a little homemade lavender room spray near his pillow before bedtime. I love it too for myself. Also white noise machine is a must also.
