As in past discussions I've seen on here it's disgusting that a child or I should say a grown 41 year old man would steal from my own mother but sadly she has her blinders on and has been this way with him since he was a child - he has childrenfrom three different women and has used a dead person's so security number so we didn't have to pay for child support my mother only gets a Social Security check and now he has talk to into putting his name on her bank account my mother doesn't even have food in her fridge and the money that she gets from so security is not accounted for I don't know what to do I know it's been set on here that you can warn your mother but if she has blinders on is nothing you can really do that's really not something I can live with me knowing my own brother is stealing from my mother my mother suffering that she doesn't even have food in her fridge really does anyone have any advice on who I can go to I can't just sit back and let someone do this to my own mother

Vezzy, does your Mom have any elder medical issues that would make her go into assistant living or a nursing home? Her social security will be used to help with her care, and there wouldn't be any way for your brother to get his hands on that money.

If your Mom doesn't want to move, and continuing on with what she is doing for your brother, check to see if she could get meals-on-wheels.

I agree, call APS.

But. There's always a but, isn't there!

Your brother stealing from your mother v. your mother giving everything, more than she can reasonably afford, to your brother. Same difference in the impact on your poor mother, but a world of difference in terms of what will happen to him, and how easy it will be to stop this - I agree, atrocious - behaviour.

All the same, call APS. Because whether or not anyone can throw the book at him, APS will still be able to assess her living arrangements and help her if she is facing hardship. That's why, whatever happens, it's the right thing to do.

Call your state's Adult Protective Services and report your brother.

However, if your mom doesn't want to get him in trouble most likely nothing will happen to your brother as a result of his stealing.
