My mother lives in a group home for dementia patients. The facility is located in Michigan. My siblings and I can’t take care of her because she is very combative and mean. If she comes down with Covid, can the facility make us move her out? Don’t they have some responsibility to help find a facility for her to move?

If she’s vaccinated she’ll hopefully do ok with it. She would have to be sick enough to be diagnosed with it first and admitted to the hospital, which would then hang on to her until she wasn’t contagious. At that point she should be good to go back to the care home, but why not ask them what their care plan is, just to be prepared?

No, I would not think a Group home was obligated to find another facility. The only way a person in a Group home would contract COVID is if a staff member brought it in. I would think that Group homes are limited to visitation.

I would get my shots and wear a mask when entering the home if allowed visitation. Since COVID numbers are going up again, I would not take LO out of the GH. Then they can't claim LO brought it back into the home.
