Can I get paid for caring for my husband who had a stroke nearly 9 years ago?

Left side is inoperable due to a stroke. Need help with bathing and dressing. Get around on a walking and sometimes wheel chair.

Contact your local area on aging. Your state does have Medicaid home based services which will pay a family caregiver, BUT even if your husband qualifies-income must be under $2300 and less than $2k in assets—there is a waitlist. Your local area on aging will know of all other programs available in your state & country.
