You'll need to have this question answered by someone familiar with Iowa regulations, or just as good, contact the Iowa Treasury Department directly.

In Michigan, nontaxable income has to be reported on the Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit form, per Michigan regulations. It might be different in Iowa. Or maybe not.

Do you have the property tax credit form for applying for the credit? If so, read the section on what income has to be reported. If it's not clear, and many aspects of reporting aren't, call the Iowa Treasury and ask them.

That's the best way to be safe and avoid audit or having the treasury folks mandatorily change your credit form if they find out some non taxable income hasn't been reported as "household income".

Hope you can get this resolved so you can file for the credit.
