Yes, people have walked away. It will turn out in any of a myriad of ways, dependent on family, dependent on person requiring care. That isn't your problem. Your probelm is that you intend to, want to resign from the care of the elder. Let the elder and the rest of the family know the date you are leaving. Then, if no family steps forward, report the person you cared for as a senior at risk to APS.
This does not equate to 'refusers' becoming 'choosers' to help.
