posted originally for help in conversation w/confused/disoriented individual--the situation has increased in severity the individual is living her life thru each visit of telephone call. she is still being treated as an 'in-patient' however, everyday brings a new scenario. She has stated on occasion where she is and associates the hospital as place the event is incurring.I.E. she recently mentioned she was in our parish facility and was attending a women's club event. The fact of the matter is she was still in the hospital. Can anyone offer tips/suggestions that I may use.
Thank You

I would agree with jeannegibbs on this one. There is really no harm in going along with her. You can practice your acting skills. The one question that has no judgement attached is "Tell me more about that". It may be fascinating.

I assume she is in a psych ward? I suggest talking with the primary treating physician for the most helpful way to deal with her delusions.

The general wisdom for dealing with dementia patients is to go along with the delusions. "I'm glad that meeting is over so you have time to visit with me. Let me tell you about a letter I got from my sister today." But I have no idea if that is appropriate for the kind of treatment your wife is getting. Do discuss this with the doctor.

I suggest having the confused person get seen by Doctor that specializes in these types of behavior. Maybe a Geriatrician or Mental Health Expert or even a General Medical Doctor. I don't know what was discussed in your original post so this may be redundant. Good luck to both of you.
