What about adult daycare? Is that option available in your area?

It depends, average price here is around $25 an hour with an agency.

Independently can be as low as $10 but not bonded. Be careful if you do that.

Call Council on Aging too. Usually a waiting list. Four hour shifts are free. Here we get eight hours a month. You could hire someone for the other time. Maybe even the same person through the agency they use.

In south FL my elderly aunts pay $22 p/hr for a Visiting Angels companion that does exactly what you listed. As soon as any type of "medical" need or special training is required, the rate goes up as you are sent people meeting the qualifications. E.g. if you are a fall risk, or need to be given medications or such, the hourly rate goes up. FYI the more hours you request the better the caregivers (the good ones want the most hours consistently). I'm not sure if you're looking for 8-hrs a day, 7-days a week? or just a total of 8 hours a week? The more care you require eventually it will cost MORE than AL per year, especially if you need an overnight nurse. Good luck!

You need to contact local home care agencies and ask them. Pricing varies, as does hours of service and availability of care givers.

Some are not allowed to drive clients to appointments in the care giver's car, or perhaps can in the clients car, or not at all.

Have you checked out medical transport in your area?

The price varies widely depending on where you live & whether or not you hire privately (and assume the rule of employer which includes carrying insurance & employment taxes, etc) or go through an agency. You will probably pay approx $30 an hour if you use an agency.
