I helped my dad and his wife with their recent move. I'm out of state and disabled with a fixed income and just can't make it back a 3rd time to help them unpack and get settled in. My dad's wife is very ill and he is trying to do everything. Be a caregiver, take care of the home and try to unpack. He's 75 and I see him running on empty, but I just can't get there again for a few months. With their medical costs their budget is tight, really tight. Where can I get them some help getting unpacked and settled to relieve some of the stress he carries? They are in the Phoenix, AZ area, any suggestions?

The above post may cover meals on wheels. I would think that would be helpful. Also ask her dr to order home health. This will help with bathing her and taking her vitals. These steps might not help with unpacking but can help with other chores to free your dad up and give him a level of support.

Dear Mssilly,

I feel for your dad. And I know you are doing everything you can in your power as well. I found this link so I hope it will provide with a few phone numbers that can assist your dad and his ill wife.
