I have excellent coverage with WellCare in North Carolina, but they don't offer coverage in Napa. I would never have found them but for the NC Council on Aging. Do you offer a similar counseling in Napa? I will arrive there sometime in November.

When Medicare Advantages started they were HMOs. My doctors were not in their network. Now they seem to be PPOs. You have more choice of doctors but save more using in network doctors.

I had a friend who needed surgery. The doctor excepted Medicare but he wasn't the Medicare Advantages doctor. So MA would not OK the doctor who was just up the road from her. Since it was elective surgery she waited and changed insurance during open enrollment.

They sound like they work with Medicare but seems they don't.

People on this forum, when I asked for advice, cautioned me against the Advantage plans. They all said they’re wonderful until you need them. Deductibles can be extremely high and their networks are very limited.

When I needed help finding a plan, I contacted a company I found on Facebook, Remedigap. You can google them for their phone number. Their service is free and they are not representatives on any insurance company.

We are not an insurance company or do counceling. We r a forum of caregivers that share our experiences caring for loved ones. We have members from all over the US, Canada and the UK and other countries.

You will need to call the Office of Aging in the County you will be moving to. They should be able to tell you what insurance companies are available in that state.

Sorry we couldn't help.
