For example, when is the best time to eat protein? When takingcarbidopa-levodopa Enta 2 ,200 mg every three hours I experience extreme nausea for a period of up to 1 - 1 1/2 hours when I eat certain foods.
Especially protein based - eggs, meat etc.

My question is when can I eat proteins? /before or after taking dosage?

Also where can I find info on the proper diet to follow?

I would suggest going to the following website: www.apdaparkinson.org There is a wealth of info on this website for Parkinsons patients and caregivers.

My husband just started this med a few months ago. His neurologist told him to take the med 45 minutes before or an hour after a meal containing protein and to take it with some food if it caused nausea....just non protein food. He generally takes the med at 6 am when he first gets up, with coffee, and then again around 1030...which is in between meals and then again around 230 in afternoon. If he needs a 4th dose, it's late evening prior to bed time if he is shaking too much. Dr. also said, doses wear off after approx. 5 hours and do not stay built up in the system. I agree, though, to check with your pharmacist if you don't find answers on your info list that comes with the drug. My hubby carries a couple pills in a plastic pill envelope with him if he's out and about, so he has a dose with him, when not at home. The hardest part for him, is to find some non protein food to take it with, as he is a protein lover....and even milk is protein...as is all dairy...cheese etc. He tries left overs that are more veggies or potatoes or pasta that he keeps from dinner time for next day, because all his usual choices would be protein! He had some nausea in beginning, but it went away after a week or so for him. Hope this helps.

Read the entire patient information sheet you got with the Rx and discuss the side effects with your Pharmacist. They have a LOT of knowledge. Try to keep the meals balanced with proteins, starches and vegetables.
