In January she fell fractured her hip had surgery to repair, She is wheelchair bound. Her income less that $1300 a month she can't afford to be housed anywhere. Ive been with her since 2008, I pay her bills which is my money. I retired in 2008 from my state job to take care of her. I have siblings but only one comes down monthly to help. There is no monetary given to her support other than what I am supplying. My son and grandchildren help me a lot and I thank God I have them. I am considering contacting NJ Dept of Aging to see if any help is available. I was told the governor signed legistation in regard to family care being paid. if this is true it would help us considerably.
Governor Christie signed the CARE Act in 2014. rothkofflaw but this act does not say anything about family caregivers being paid unless there is another Bill. Taxes in NJ would go sky high if the State paid family members to be caregivers to their spouse, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, grandchildren, children.
