I. How We Work in Washington. Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.

Your loved one may not require home care or assisted living services at this time. However, continue to monitor their condition for changes and consider occasional in-home care services for help as needed.

Share a few details and we will match you to trusted home care in your area:
Most often counties have ADRCs (Aging and Disabilities Resource Centers) that can provide some guidance on what to do. Some states call them something different. They have a social worker review the situation and make suggestions. Medicaid usually comes into play only when a person has "spent down" their assets to $2000 or so. If you want to explain his mobility limitations more on this post I would be glad to make suggestions (or contact me via profile if you want).
Book is right. His doctor can write out a script for what he needs and he may have to pay a copay, but the insurance should pick up most of the cost. Is your dad a veteran? If so contact them and they will be able to help get what he needs. As for the steps, if he can no longer navigate them himself, you would need a ramp for outside steps, that is if there aren't too many. If the steps are long flights of stairs, then it's a whole different ball game. If his bedroom is on a second floor, then the easiest thing would be to make him a room on the ground floor, otherwise look into one of those electric chairs made to transport someone up a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, none of these options is free. I have spent a lot to keep Mom comfortable and safe. Good luck!
I didn't know you can have both at one? From what I read here, you go through Medicare first. Then when you are no longer covered by Medicare, you then apply for Medicaid. Whatever the case, his doctor must see him. If he thinks your father needs the bed and chair, he will fill out a prescription. However, his doctor must be Medicare approved. Then u need to call around to see if the home care stores/pharmacy if they have it.
