Service number, discharge papers, Date of birth, and anything else you might have. I did my Mom's application for VA Aid and Attendance. I went thru my local VA office. It was not difficult. Approved and had her first check in about 3.5 months. Her first check included retrocative money to date of application. Get all of your dad's discharge paperwork together. I was lucky; my dad had kept all of his military paperwork in one big envelope.

I have pretty much all discharge info death certificate marriage etc....When it comes to a Doctors Note suggesting home care...does he just write the info on his letterhead or is there a specific form he has to fill out ? Just trying to know ahead of calling the VA office. I live overseas contacting anyone is very difficult. They all want to call me back but then see I am overseas and dont.
You should not pay any company for the service to prepare mom's application. Contact your local Veteran's Administration where you can get all the help you need. Be prepared to be patient, approval will not be overnight.
