I’m at a loss. No one seems to be able to help or guide me in the right direction. My mom is a sweet loving lady but seems to get bouts of aggression (bites & scratches).
She’s been moved around from memory care, to hospital, to skilled nursing, memory, which doesn’t help.
Any suggestions? We are in the greater L. A. area.
She's at the hospital at this time. Does have medications. Unfortunately, I believe there is more to it that I'm being told since they are unable to give me details of what is triggering her. Avenir, in my opinion is not the right place for her when they are unable to provide detail information of what's going on. I agree that the aggressive behavior is unacceptable, but they should be able to relay what's going on. I wish there was more assistance out there for people going through similar things.

They called me to inform me that I had to take her elsewhere at a time I was at the airport, not that they would now. But I informed them that I would see what I could do and that as soon as I was back from my business trip, I would dedicate more time to find a place and that they needed to help as well. Only to find out that the next day my mom was sent to the hospital and has been there since. There has been a back and forth between the hospital asking where she's going to and me informing them that Avenir, her memory care, until I find a new place. Of course, Avenir is not taking her back. The whole situation is nerve wrecking. I am disappointed with them and the way they are handling this situation. Supposedly they hold her room because we have paid for it but they don't accept her back .. very hard situation
Thank you for your response. My mom is on medication. What makes it hard to determine is that Avenir memory care center has not provided detailed information of incidents.
Thank you for the response. She was sent to a hospital 2 months ago for psychological evaluation but when I called and visited the hospital they were asking me why she was there. The manner in which her memory care has been handling the situation is not the best and that's why I am looking for a place.
I have also reached out back to Cedars Sinai and scheduled an appointment with geriatric Dr. in hopes the Dr. can help.
