At this point it sounds as if you can never leave her alone with the meds. You have no idea when she mistook those meds, if she is overdosing, then I must ask, what is stopping you from stopping by where she lives to give her morning meds in the morning, and after work stopping by her location to give her evening meds? Otherwise overdosing might end up killing her, or causing her to fall which will have bad results. Is it time for the two of you to live together?

I see a few other have mentioned the Medication Management Dispensers several of the companies that also offer the Personal Emergency Response Systems have the Medication Dispensers that are also monitored and you can get a notification when a dose is missed. There are a couple of different styles so you could find the best fit for your mother's needs.

Had the same problem with my DH who has Parkinson's. Finally bought a battery operated automatic pill dispenser, and it has been a blessing! It locks so he can't open it (I have the only key and I keep it hidden). It will dispense up to five times a day. It took a little studying to get it programmed, but works like a charm, batteries last a very long time, even though he gets five dosages daily. Found it on Amazon, GMS Med-E-Lert. Cost about $75 but has lasted at least three years! It is not sturdily made, so you do have to handle it with care. There is a tiny screw in the locking device that will occasionally work loose. Just be aware and use eyeglasses screwdriver to tighten. I can go away for the weekend and rest easy knowing his meds are there for him in accurate on time dosages. The box has an alarm that sounds for 30 minutes. It's not very loud, so I set delayed alarms on his cell phone in case he's outside when the box alarm goes off. This helps him to remember to check the pill box. There are other more expensive devices but I read a lot of reviews and most of them said this device worked as good or better than some of the more expensive ones. It's been a lifesaver for me! Update: Thank you everyone for your suggestions! We are into week # 2 of the Med-e-lert Automatic Pill Dispenser. It is fantastic!! So far, so good :)
