Hi, for those of you that have loved ones in memory care or ALF what do you do for the staff at holiday time?

Many places prohibit gifts to individual caregivers/staff.
A card and a well written letter expressing your appreciation and gratitude for the care that they have provided is always nice. A copy for the individual as well as a copy for the facility to place in the employee file.
A delivery in the morning of donuts, coffee and hot chocolate would be appreciated.
A delivery mid day of Sub sandwiches or Pizza would be enjoyed.
Same if you want to deliver for evening staff. Or find out when shift change is so you can have the delivery timed to get both afternoon and evening staff.
I would think no one will be accepting homemade gifts this year (personally I have never liked the idea of giving a large group home made goods there are so many allergies and sensitivities that it can be a mine field. Someone will always miss out)

You can show appreciation to individuals with gift cards to major retailers (discretely, in a card). This year due to the devastation of covid, I am anticipating the demise of many retailers, from small local to national chains, after Christmas (many retailers already have plans to close but they stay active through the holidays because that's when many make the most money, and can close their doors with less loss). Absolutely NO restaurants (sorry). I'd only feel safe purchasing from places like Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc. Any other places this year will be a gamble. If they shutter, you will not be getting any refunds on the gc purchase and the gift you give will be worth $0. I know this from experience.

Edible Arrangements were always loved and appreciated! For all to share, of course. At my office, we have received cheese and nut combos from several people. We loved those too. EA are much prettier and colorful too!

Oh and pears from harry and david! Loved getting those when a kid!

I have a client who sends boxes of H & D pears and in the past 2 years they have been dismal BUT they will send a replacement if you complain.
