Medicaid may pay an aide up to 56 hours a week. Apply..its never to late.

Patfact, are you asking to see if your Mom can get more help at home? If so, Medicaid only will give you a couple hours per day, but Medicaid will pay for a nursing home if your parent qualifies. You would need to choose what is best for your parent.

Yes Hospice takes over the medicines and provides the aides under Medicare. Expenses go down. Avoid Medicaid this late in the game.

I was to understand, when on Hospice Medicare pays for everything. Aides, Nurses, diapers, etc.

Veronica91 is absolutely correct. If I may also suggest if she is able to meet the financial qualifications and has a medical necessity as determined by a physician, she may qualify for in-home personal care. The in-home care is often preferred and is an important priority and sometimes is forgotten as an option in planning for long-term care. Many personal care agencies will offer free in-home evaluations to offer you the most informed options for care.

If she has other medical issues than her hospice diagnosis she certainly can apply for medicaid if she meets the financial qualifications. Talk to the Hospice social worker, he/she can advice and help with the applications.
