Find Care & Housing
Charles, whether this is you or a friend, if the relative living with this person in question is doing a good job and being paid by medicaid, is that not OK? Also, know that 1-800-medicare answers questions whether they involve medicare or medicaid. Also, if you suspect there is an abusive situation in some way you can call Adult Protective Services in your area for yourself or assist your friend if this is about your friend.

This is confusing. First because Medicare, as far as I know, does not pay family to care for a family member. But as said, Medicaid does pay family members to care for a family member. You need to call your local Social Service office.

Charles, do you mean Medi CAID (different from Medicare?)

Does the mom have a Medicaid caseworker? That might be a place to start.

Why does she need to know?

Charles, as I understand it you are saying that a friend has a family member taking care of them, and being paid by medicare.
This friend should speak with medicare directly at 1- 800- medicare. If this friend is competent that should not be a problem, just have his medicare care at his side. If he might need help go ahead and help.
If this person is COMPETENT and does not WANT this help then he or she should report this. If however, there is a chance this person is NOT competent, and this help is needed and wanted, giving/making this call may cause problems. So know that going in, and know you will be holding online for a GOOD LONG TIME, perhaps more than an hour,so be ready to have a pleasant chat with one another.
