Mother needs brain scans and blood tests as per mediation agreement. My step father and sister met with moms doctor a week and since then the home is sedating her to the point she won't eat or open her eyes, going on 4 days. Home says Ensure drinks are good enough. I went 2 days ago and my mother was left in bed until 1 pm. No breakfast or care. Soaking wet towels on bathroom floor left there all night. If i hadn't shown she'd be left there all day. Family claiming alzheimers but my mother's had 3 concussins. In 75 days shes gone from walking, eating using bathroom joking to wheelchair bound babbling lost over 20 lbs. No one will listen. Went to court judge ordered mediation over guardianship battle. Selected Third party settlement but now new guardian bar association listed phone number won't take calls.
Its 4 days without her eating anything substantial or opening her eyes. Please someone help save my mom!!!

You may need a lawyer. But that will take time. Not sure what an State Ombudsman can do but I would try. Maybe contact the Court and tell them u cannot get hold of the Guardian that you feel there is elder abuse. Call APS and ask if they have any authority. That Dr has requested these tests and guardian is no show.

brokerlady01, if your Mom has had three concussions, then it is possible she has had three "brain bleeds".

My own Mom went from walking, talking, eating, etc. at home, but on her second major fall with head trauma, she went from very early dementia into late stage dementia over night. She went from the hospital into Rehab with hopes of getting her to even to stand up and walk. But her head trauma wasn't allowing that to happen.

My Mom was either bed bound or in a wheelchair. Every time she tried to stand up she would fall. Eventually she stopped eating. Hospice was quickly called in to give Mom comfort care.

Your Mom had stopped eating because her organs are slowly shutting down. Forcing food would be extremely painful for her. And your Mom is sedated so she doesn't feel any pain.

Right now you are running on emotion, which is understandable. You need to step back and focus on the reality of the situation. Brain scans and blood tests are no longer needed at this stage.

My mom went from walking with a walker , to just being able to stand to sit in a wheelchair, to not being able yo stand rather quickly… weeks.. she was in the dying process… is your mom on hospice? This may be your reality…

I'm so sorry for this distressing situation. Without much other information to go on...

Why is she being "sedated" in the first place?
How old is she and why does she have a 3rd party guardian?
How do you know that her problem stems from being over sedated?
What do you think a brain scan will show?

To answer your posted question, you probably won't be able to override the guardian unless you hire an attorney and go through the courts to prove there is some sort of negligence going on. I'm not sure going through an ombudsman will be fruitful since you're not her guardian.

Respectfully, please consider that the guardian maybe is ignoring you because you are not interpreting the situation accurately and are perhaps "interfering" with her care? We only get one side of the story on this forum...
