My father is alive and living in the family home. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. My mother needs assistance with daily activities and is currently living in an Assisted Living facility. The salesperson there said she would qualify for an Ailing Spouse benefit. How do I start the process to see if she qualifies for an assistance from the VA? I know there are companies that you can pay to do this and any suggestions of good organizations that with reasonable fees would be appreciated.

Do not pay for assistance. The VA will help. I got my mom approved in about 90 days. She received $1350 a month.

Do not use one of these companies. They try to sell u other services and there is a price.

Its called Aid and Attendance. Call you County VA Dept. They can help you with the process. But, it takes about 6 months and there is no guarantee she will get it.
