Was this an unexpected death or a long drawn out death? What was your relationship to the deceased? Not that the effects to the survivor are any less, no death is “easy”. But there are ways that can help you work thru the grief process. An unexpected death may be more of a shock, more traumatic than an inevitable expected death, but both result in the difficult emotions of grief and sadness. Grief is a very personal experience and no one way of recovery fits all; but there is one common factor for grief recovery; you must work thru it. It is not just a matter of time. You can work your way thru grief by seeking professional counsel and/or by learning how. Some excellent books on recovering from grief are:
Resilient Grieving by Lucy Hone;
How to Go on Living When Someone You Love Dies, by Theresa Rando;
