My mom's health is rapidly getting worse and I'm not capable of caring for her, her health, her house, and our bills. I'm all that's she's got and I still need to work full time to keep us above water.

Last week she fell and no one was home to help her up. Had I not worried about her missing my 9 calls I wouldn't have trusted home to find her stuck on the ground. Turns out that was complications due to her high blood pressure and diabetes. Until I can get in home help/assisted living I had to install cameras to keep a better eye on her but what can I do to expedite the process?

I have a form from her health insurance that I can get the doctor to sign but how long will that take?

The only thing I can think of to expedite the process is that if she has another fall or health emergency, have her 911-Ed to the ER. Speak with Social Services there and let them know she is not safe at home alone any longer and she needs to go to a facility ASAP. You absolutely cannot care for her in her home or yours.

What is your mom's financial means (not yours, just hers)? If meager, you should start a Medicaid application so that she can get into a facility where she will be cared for properly and be with people during the day. You should start visiting local facilities to check them out in person and make sure they accept Medicaid. There might be waiting lists, so you may have to get her name on them. Make sure she is placed in a facility that has a continuum of care (from LTC to Memory Care to hospice). Good luck!
