If she is in a skilled nursing facility for rehab she technically is a patient for care as far as insurance is concerned. I’m assuming She was discharged from a hospitalization to a SNF for rehab most likely so it’s a continuation of her patient care status.
who is telling you she needs to be transferred to a psych hospital? That’s pretty serious for anyone to say to a family member? Are you her POA on file? Whatever the case, the SNF needs to find her a psych facility as in a SNF that has a speciality unit or a long term residential psychiatric facility if in fact she is evaluated to need that. You cannot & should not be the one to transfer or place her as you cannot determine her care needs. That’s on them and other medical professionals.

Psychiatric hospitals are notoriously hard to get a bed in. I hope someone has experience with this sort of thing.
