I hire a caregiver to take care of him ( keep him company)

I cannot afford to put him a n Assistive Living Facility or a Memory Care Facilitiy. I give a sedative hoping that it will calm him down. (sometimes it works

Any suggestions?

Adr6824, it isn't easy getting old. My sig and I was both in our 70's and we are always grumbling about one thing or another.... like not being able to bend down to tie our shoes, things we use to do only 5 years prior.... [sigh].

I see your Dad is 95 years old with a variety of age related issues, including memory issues as per your profile. Some people hate getting older, and are only happy if they are snipping about this or that. They long for the younger years. So we really need to step into their shoes for a while to understand what they are going through.

Many elders are chronic complainers, it is their hobby. Ignore it as he is not going to get any better. Have you actually looked into AL? Home caregiving is not inexpensive either. Does he qualify for Medicaid?
