I live near a high-end memory care facility that has separate sections, and the residents choose which they wish to live in. One is men and women, the other is women only.

Personal perspective, room across from mine female. One time heard female had itching in her private area, partly due to her not wanting to shower.

Her roommate one time had feces in her closet, oh well.

See if she can be moved or simply close the door so he won’t be in her direct sight.

I don’t think we will ever see men and women separated in nursing homes.

The COST of making NH's single sex on one floor and the other on another--probably not possible. I think they are more separated by NEEDs, so the correct level of care is met.

You can request a move for mom to a room where the door opens across the hall from a man. In the NH's I visit, they ARE set up like that. You cannot see from one room to another with the doors open.

My friend, who has been in a NH for over a year now--she's been in 4 different NH's. In none of them could she see into another patient's room. Only if she were wheeled out to the 'commons' area would she even interact with the other patients.

Maybe this old man needs some meds to quell that geriatric sex drive?

Speak to the administration of this nursing home and ask for your mom to be moved to a different room. All managed care facilities are co-ed.
