Since I use sheets that you can tell are wet or dirty I only change them once a week. I check every time he gets out of bed to be sure there is nothing on the sheets.

KDinMD60, yes once a week is fine. Unless when you open the bedroom door and the room smells like a gym locker room, then the sheets may need twice a week washing.

When washing best to use laundry detergent that doesn't have a fragrance. I have notice mixing a fragrance sheet smell with body sweat can change the odor into something not pleasant. Same with a softener, non-fragrance is recommended.

Sheets that are not soiled overmuch by sweat, feces, urine, etc. can, yes, in the case of a relatively clean person, be changed weekly or even less frequently. This is a kind of fun thing to research. They find that men on average (living alone) change their sheets less frequently than women. And in fact the average length between sheet changes is 37 days! Go figure!

I think once a week is fine.
As long as the sheets are clean (relatively speaking) then 1 time a week is plenty.
(I wish I were so punctual on changing my sheets,)
