I hope you have it in writing that the insurance was going to pay you and how much. Then u could go to the labor board for none payment.

Give them a date. Lets say May 31st. If you have not been paid what you agreed to, u will be leaving.

If you worked for any other kind of employer would you keep turning up for your shift if you never got a paycheck? You have carried them far too long already, ask for some earnest money before beginning your next shift and give notice if they aren't prepared to cough up the rest by weeks end.

I wonder if these elderly people are really as naive as they seem to claim.

Their insurance covers *them* for the cost of their care. They still owe you your wages. Then, when their claim money comes through, they get the cost of your wages back in that way.

The labourer is worthy of his (her) hire. They owe you back wages since March, and they owe them *now.* I dare say they can afford much more easily than you can to wait for the money to come through.

Are they a bit dim? Are they a bit muddled? Or are they pulling a fast one on you? Deciding which will help you start the necessary conversation.

FaithB, I don't think they are referring to Medicare so maybe they are referring to a Long Term Care policy that they have. If I were in your shoes I'd ask this couple to show you who they've been communicating with at this insurance company. Also, does the person you give care to and is managing/arranging the care have any cognitive issues? Do they have any other family members that you are or can be in contact with to help figure out what's going on? Is anyone their PoA? I would inform them that you can't continue to provide care if you're not paid. Maybe they will consider paying you from their own pockets until you all get an accurate answer? Again, don't assume they know what they're doing since it can be very confusing...ask to see the proof of it.
