I just taking care of my husband since he has been sick and I'm getting to the point where I can't even do anything anymore. We both need in home caregivers and our Case manager is at aging and disability. She as well has been trying cause my husband doesn't want to go into assisted living because he has to pay out of pocket. We need someone who can do 25 hours a week, 20 hours for my husband and 5 for me. Can anyone please help us?

Find Care & Housing
Shadowqueen - your husband does not want to pay out of pocket. What are his reasons behind that? Limited funds? Afraid of running out of money? Losing control of money? Being a tight wad? Or something else?

If you both can afford assisted living, then my recommendation is to keep convincing him by taking him to tour a few nice places and see for yourselves what living there would be like. He might just like it.

If money is an issue, but you can afford to hire in-home help, then you can search that on this site. On the right side of the screen, there are 2 blue boxes. One to search for leads, and the other box is to have Karen/Care Advisor help you do it.

Your profile says you are 54 and 55 years old, so don't even have Medicare yet...I would have a discussion with a social worker about SSDI and an in-home assessment to see if you qualify for any services.

Also contact your local area's Agency on Aging as they know a lot have can help you find resources.
