We visited with Dad's neurologist yesterday and decided to increase his Seroquel to try to combat the late afternoon/early evening restlessness and delusions. The neuro agreed that in all probability, due to his symptoms, Dad does have Lewy Body Dementia. He has been taking 50mg of Seroquel in the morning and 50mg at bedtime. We're adding a 50mg tablet after dinner, around 5:00-5:30. Does anyone have any experience with this? I know when Dad first started the Seroquel, about a year and a half ago, it really knocked him out in the mornings. He usually slept until about 10:30 or so after taking the morning med at breakfast. Same with the night time pill. I don't believe they're quite as effective any more, but they still help him. After taking the first early evening dose yesterday he became sleepy and lay on the bed for a while, then got up and did some wandering and messing around in drawers, seeming still a little agitated and restless. Mom said that he seemed really tired and finally decided he needed to go to bed about 8:30. He slept through the night, which he hadn't done in a while. The doctor said to give it two weeks and call to let him know how Dad is doing. Is this response to the introduction of another dose of the Seroquel what one would expect? And will he grow more accustomed to it over the next two weeks? Anyone experience this med change?
