Find Care & Housing
Called 911 after margarita mom fell again. She hated me for letting them in the house, threatened them with a lawsuit (she told them she was a lawyer, NOT) & was altogether mean to everyone. Those EMT's were definitely patient. She refuses all help.

Call 911 and request a "LIFT ASSIST"
99.99% of the time there is no charge. (as long as there is no transport to the hospital)
The responders are trained to lift someone so they do not get injured and they will not injure the person they are lifting.

My husband has Parkinson’s and also a bad shoulder and knee. (High school football injury and we don’t know what happened to his shoulder. ) so he can’t get on hands and knees easily. A couple of years ago he bought a twin inflatable mattress which inflated to 24 inches high.
if he falls and can’t get up I spread the deflated mattress next to him and he rolls onto it. I turn it on and it inflates. Then he is high enough to transfer to a wheelchair or other chair or his bed. We have used it successfully many times.
calling 911 or the fire department is your best option and we have done that as well. My husband resists calling 911 (perhaps because he is male?)
good luck!

Thanks for the tip to call 911 if they are on the floor and can't get up. I wonder if the protocol varies by place because when the EMTs were called and came to help my mom on her first wandering, they brought her to the hospital which was required. I offered to drive over to pick her up 2 miles away, but they were required to take her to hospital. It is possible hospital was required due to the wandering.
