Have lightweight chair in back seat of car at present, when wife is driving. Legs do not work but all good with the upper body. Looking for used car with quality electric hand controls that I can drive. Drivers seat must be at about the same height as the wheelchair. Can not be lower or can not transfer. On budget, looking to spend no more than $30.000.00. This will be a drive around town vehicle.

Find Care & Housing
We just sold my late father’s wheelchair van on Craigslist. In doing that I researched what was for sale and I saw a few vehicles similar to what you require.

Good luck at finding something!

The Ford Flex is a very good car for wheelchair users. The driver’s seat is about the height of an adult user.

You will need to look locally for a used van. They also would equip PT cruisers. Really neat. It can be set up you enter in ur wheelcair thru the back and hook in at he drivers side. Vans or PTs are not usually bought brand new this way. You buy them and have them fitted. See if you have a conversion place near you and see how much it would be to install the features you need to a used Van or car. Check Craigs list. Check with car dealers.

You are on an international chat forum of caregivers to elders.

If you Google "wheelchair vans with hand controls for sale" a whole bunch of sites come up.

You can also purchase hand controls for any car and have them installed.....Google it.

Good luck.
