Found out Friday that mom’s Medicare bed and rehab had one more day. Today.

I’m being told that hospitals are full and there are not many Medicaid beds.

When I receive a bill from the rehab for these extra days, I can use her savings, correct? This will help pay down to the $2000 limit.

Yes. The easy answer is yes.
However, if it were me, I would seek the advice of moms certified elder care attorney to direct any financial decisions. It pays down moms assets towards the $2000 all the same yet the attorney could let you know that you are making decisions that don’t create a penalty….not that paying extra days in rehab would except that hopefully you haven’t indicated that you personally are responsible for moms debts. Be careful that you don’t set yourself up to be the responsible party. The rehab could be ruthless in trying to collect any funds owed and not covered by Medicare.
