The soonest wait is 6 mos. She has been in and out of the hospital frequently since November due to cardiac and renal issues and the falls. She's fallen twice in two weeks and last Saturday, spent the night on the floor until she could crawl to the phone. The fire department had to break in because my husband and I were 4 hours away. The last time she was in the hospital over Christmas and then they put her in a rehab facility for 3 weeks (that's all Medicare and Medicaid would pay for) then discharged her to home. She won't wear an emergency button and she can't come and live in our quad. We both work and can't take care of her full time plus there is nowhere at her place for someone else to sleep unless it's on the floor. She keeps messing up her meds. We just don't know what to do when she's released again, until we can get her into another facility (if she lasts that long without a serious incident).
The sooner you get in contact with the county, the sooner they can get help for your MIL. Best wishes on this journey.
