Sweetpea, I agree with the other writers, call 911... some elders don't want to be a bother so they refuse to see a doctor, or cross it off as a tummy upset.

I remember when my sig other didn't want to go to the ER, one of the EMT's did an EKG on the heart and said he saw some unusual beeps that needed to be checked out. That's all my sig other needed to hear, so out the door he went with the EMT's.

Babalou, very good points. I especially like the concept of the charming and good looking EMTs convincing a little old lady to get help!

Seriously, I think your points are well taken - all of them.

Call 911 and let the EMTS evaluate. They can be VERY persuasive, charming and good looking and have been known to get reluctant little old ladies to ER where their lives are then saved.

Does your mother want to die? That's a serious question; if she doesn't have dementia, I would ask her that, because she WILL die of electrolyte imbalance if this is not corrected. If she DOES have dementia, YOU are the adult in the room.

Either way, I'd call 911, if only to protect myself from being charged with neglect when she dies.

If she is throwing up everything, each and every time, she's getting dehydrated and malnourished, if she's not already in that condition. She may not want to go to a doctor, but she's going to be seeing one in the ER very quickly.

When did this start, how long has it been going on, can she keep down anything, including fluids? More information would help, as well as what other conditions she has.
