Mother has been in a nursing facility for 4 months. In the last month, she keeps telling us and staff that she is moving and starts packing up her belongings. Sometimes she feels she is not in her room even when we point out all her belongings in the room. At other times, she tells us she is being evicted. We have practiced compassionate validation of other hallucinations. Since she is packing up all her stuff everyday, we are not sure what approach to take now. Any suggestions?
Let her keep packing her stuff up! The problem is, I suppose, that someone has to unpack it so she can start all over again. There may be meds that could help her with anxiety, which this may be. Ask her doctor.
