My mother is always coughing, any suggestions?

I use to have a bad cough and thought it was due to acid reflux.... turned out once I bought a new vacuum cleaner [my old one was 30 years old] what a huge difference in my coughing as the new machine was able to pick up a lot of pet hair.

Also, in the winter months I use a humidifier to help moisten the dry air... I really like the Honeywell model I had bought which is top loading [the bottom loading is a struggle and water goes everywhere]. I feel this humidifier has also helped with my cough.
