Maybe you could advise us of what state you are in, Greenj, in case anyone knows what the situation is there?

It could depend on what state you live in. In community property states, I would think yes. Also those debts become debts of his estate. If you inherit money from him, creditors may have a claim against that. Otherwise I don't think you would be responsible, although creditors may try to convince you that you should pay them.
