Some facilities have exclusive agreements with specific providers. Talk with the facility. They may not allow it because of liability issues.

The facility my mom was in required mom have a caregiver, private pay in addition to regular staff because of behaviors. They provided a website, all were contractors that were setup for payroll purposes through a company. All were screened by the facility.

You can hire a CNA privately to take your mom for walks or help her with whatever she needs. Or, you can use an agency like Home Instead to hire a companion to sit with her and keep her company. The ALF may have a list of caregivers they recommend, too. It would probably be less expensive to hire someone privately than to use an agency like Home Instead which requires 4 hr minimums also.

Good luck!

When my bro was at ALF they had excellent ideas on which agencies to use, which hospice and etc so I would check with the ALF first.
