My pharmacy usually delivers my meds as I can no longer drive and am disabled. Now they refuse to deliver the alprazolam. What to do?

Clonidine is good for high BPs, and it has a calming effect. Alprazolam (Xanax) is not medically indicated for high blood pressure.

If I lived near you, I would do it for you. How sad that they will no longer deliver to you. I hope you find a solution. Just a thought but do you have a near by church that you could reach out to? to see if someone would be willing to help out and pick them up for you.

Pretty sure with controlled medications you can designate a caregiver that can pick meds up for you. Ask the pharmacy what the procedure is, I am sure there are "hoops that you might have to jump through" but is should be possible.

I would like to give this group an answer, but don't know it all. However, there are supermarket pharmacies that may deliver. I think I checked this out before and that is what I found, but it's been a year or so. Call around to supermarkets that deliver. They just might. Not sure.

I live in assisted living and I also take Xanax because I take my own medicine. I must keep it under double lock and key. If it were to deliver it from the nurses to you then they have to keep it under double lock and key where they keep all of their medicines, I guess it must be something special, like you, I like it

I am in a similar situation. My retail pharmacy will not mail my Pain medication. It seems they are not allowed to, but they will let someone pick it up. I do not have anyone to pick it up. So far I'm making it there once a month but it is a harsh reality when you have no help. I'd like to ask if your pharmacy charges for delivery. Mine delivers through FedEx and they do charge me. I wonder if that's legal. The answer they give is that they're not a mail pharmacy. Also, I'd like to say, that mail order won't fill some medications ie. my pain medication and I don't know why. Have any of you experienced these same issues?

Amazon has a prescription service. Maybe check and see if your med is something that they handle and deliver.

Amazon also has a text-based or video based service to see a doc. I used them a few months ago when I had an infection.

AngelofSprings7, do you take blood pressure medication? If not, time to visit with a cardiologist and have him/her prescribe what would work best for you. Some blood pressure meds are also used for anxiety. It's worth looking into.

You may want to call some other pharmacies in your area, especially independent pharmacies. Ask if they deliver and if they'll deliver that med, then ask for a price quote, if possible, to make sure your copay will be the same or similar. Then you can ask the pharmacy to call and transfer the prescription from your current pharmacy to the new one. I believe controlled substances can be transferred between pharmacies one time only. You can also ask your doctor to send a new Rx to the new pharmacy. Hope this helps.

Have you talked to your local MIPPA? They are a federal agency with state and territorial chapters.

They will help you with the Dollars on your medication....and will know some agencies in your area that might be able to help you.

You might need to hire a caregiver. Or find another pharmacy that will deliver.

Amazon is now doing prescriptions, also check with your drs office they may have an option of having medication delivered. Also, if you are on medical, medicaid and medicare they may have an option to have it mailed to you.
My insurance company continues to call me and mail me paperwork to have may meds mailed to me.

Xanax is a terrible withdrawal . Ask your doctor to switch you to Valium and slowly cut back On the Xanax. Instead of 1 mg . Xanax Take a Half mg. Get a Pill cutter . Valium is Much safer and the withdrawal is not so Harsh .

My benzos can be 'mailed' to me. I just have to have my DL on file at the pharmacy. Maybe that's unusual for my state, but my pharmacy always lets me know that I can 'skip the line' so to speak, and have my meds delivered.

Even a friend or relative can pick up a controlled substance for you. It's having ID that is the bugaboo.

I am with Alva. This med seems to be for anxiety. Maybe there is another med not so pricy. I know when this happened to my nephew, he was able to pay Medicaid insurance a little extra and get the med he needed. It was cheaper than the med its self. Office of Aging helped him. It had something to be a tier like a level.

There is help thru Medicare where your Medicare part B is paid for and prescriptons are paid for. Office again should help you. Also call your CountyvDisabilities Dept. Maybevu can get an aide.

They can't mail them?

This is a question for your Pharmacy.
They will tell you how to get a surrogate to pick up your medications if you are unable to leave to get them.
