I need to contact someone for help with filing a long-term care insurance claim and doing it properly so it is not denied the first time around. I know there are companies that help with this and the one I've contacted has yet to get back with me. That co is Family Solutions for Care. Any other suggestions of companies to contact? Thanks for your help.
What AoAs are, are regional body’s that help coordinated info as to where / what services are for those over 60 in their region. AoAs are a subset of your regions COG aka Council of Government which deal with regional issues like planning, land use, transportation, infrastructure, etc that cross jurisdictional lines. COGs and their offspring like AoA get funded from the state, the feds and grant programs. It’s your tax $ at work & no fee charged. For TX there’s 24 COGs and 28 AoAs. Like SA has two AoAs, 1 that’s SA/Bexar, the other more rural like Atascosa. Austin area still has 1.
TX AoA actually have enough funding to have full time staff so there should be someone you can talk to. Also and kinda important imo is that for TX the federally required NH ombudsman program is in the AoA. So if your looking for a facility, the ombudsman’s office can be quite insightful.
Now should you be initially be told you should speak with your insurance agent, say that the LTC policy is an older one and the insurance carrier is no longer selling LTCI policies or say there is no actual agent you can ask. Good luck.
