Hello and thank you in advance for any help that you can provide. My parents need a driver to take them to doctor appointments, etc. We helped recently but live a distance away. Is there a trusted transportation company for the elderly?

You can contact the local department of transportation and sign them up for the services offered for seniors and disabled.

They will pick up and drop off, if you schedule a time it is pretty convenient and on time. If you have to call when you are done, it can be a wait to get picked up.

It is reasonably priced and they usually have a cab company that they work with for discount rides.

The only service I would trust is a companion aid hired through an agency. This is because in a reputable and well-managed agency, their employees are vetted, including background checks. You would need to know the exact dates and times and explain that the driver would need to wait for the LO. You'd need to explain any cognitive or physical issues your LO has. If your LO has any cognitive or memory issues, this is the only method I would trust. Even going through a county-funded service for the elderly, there are different drivers all the time and I'm not sure what qualifications they require. My MIL did this for several years. Your LO would need to financially qualify for this, I think.

Call their local Area Agency on Aging.
